Hello world!

You’ve got me. This is wordpress-based web site. And every new WordPress site begins its life with a “Hello, World!” post.

For me, it’s the start of a familiar ritual. For over a hundred websites I’ve built, the steps were always the same:

  • Delete the “Hello, World!” post.
  • Delete the “Hello Dolly” plugin.
  • Install a plugin to disable comments.
  • In 8 out of 10 cases also disable the revisions functionality.
  • Change the ‘admin’ username for better security against brute-force attacks.
  • Install Google Site Kit for analytics…

But this time is different. After twenty years of casual programming and fifteen years in marketing, this website isn’t for a client. It’s for me.

So, let’s break the cycle. This “Hello, World!” post stays. It feels like a fitting way to finally start.

Hello, World. It’s nice to finally meet you.
